We’re in the middle of a London heatwave. Days so hot, you can barely step foot outside for fear of melting – makeup and all! Nights so uncomfortable, it’s hard to sleep, not to mention the fact that our trusted Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair, £53, seems to be sliding off our faces. So here at Verymakeupmad Towers we did what any sane, young women (well, that’s what M calls us. V’s not so sure that 41 still constitutes ‘young ‘!) would do when faced with such unbearable heat… we hotfooted it to the tube and alighted at Selfridges, to check out the latest launches from Bobbi Brown. Well, what else did you expect?

Gorgeous new Bobbi Brown offerings

First up, V was introduced to the amazing Primer Plus Radiance, £24. She’s decided that this is a ‘must-have’ product. Not only does it have an SPF 35 (super important and the only real way to prevent skin ageing) but it evens out the skin and gives a gorgeous glow, without being in the least bit shiny or overly reflective (we have a thing about greasy looking faces!). Make up applies beautifully over it and lasts all day. V has been using it ever since…and as far as daytime primers are concerned, doesn’t think she’ll ever look back.

As for M, she’s all about the eyes. And with the launch of the limited edition ‘Nude on Nude’ – 2 soft, subtle, nudey palettes, Rosy Nudes and Bronzed Nudes, £39.50 each, with mattes, shimmers and highlighters – she requested a ‘summer sorbet’ look… no, V didn’t know what that meant either! (apparently M was thinking soft, shimmery, pastel tones that screamed summer). Luckily, the fabulous Bobbi Brown makeup artist, Vivienne, seemed to understand and was on hand to create the look. She chose the Rosy Tones palette with its neutral, pink, brown and champagne shades. It’s a great, versatile, little palette. You can create easy, everyday looks to brighten and enhance the eyes, or build up the colour and go ‘smokey’ and nighttime-ey.

Eenie meenie – which Nude On Nude would you choose?

As ever, don’t forget to comment and let us know what you’re loving at the moment or if there’s a specific look you want us to help you achieve. Don’t forget about our VeryMakeupMad consultancy service! We’re here to help. Unless the heatwave continues, in which case V is considering emigrating!

Vikki & Mala (and here’s Vivienne too!) xx
