Who’d have thought it?! February 26th was the warmest UK February day on record. Ever! There’s nothing like a sunny day to get us Brits excited… the mere hint of sun and there are smiles on peoples’ faces, springs in their steps and noticeably fewer clothes on their backs (not us, though… it’s not very classy!!). And what do we do at Verymakeupmad Towers when the winter sun unexpectedly pays us a visit? We jump on the tube and alight in London’s Westend, ready to check out the latest in the wonderful world of beauty and bask in the sun’s rays! (wearing killer shades and SPF30, of course! That’s the VeryMakeupMad beauty mantra. Oh, and throw in a bottle of water and a good night’s sleep too!)

So we hit Oxford Street and hot footed it to John Lewis to pay Bobbi Brown makeup artist, Lampros, a visit. And he let us into a little secret… the fabulous, brand new, Crushed Liquid Lip Lipstick, £19 (think lipstick, meets balm, meets gloss!) was used backstage at London Fashion Week and thanks to its light, fresh, almost gel-like texture, it was applied to cheeks for a natural flush of colour, as well as to lips. So of course we had to let him try it out on us…and we loved the effect. We went for Peach and Quiet and Mango Mood, 2 gorgeous, bright shades that really wake up the face and look amazing on lips (although ssshhhh, Hippy Shake, a soft, pinky nude, is proving to be the sell-out colour, so grab one if you can. You heard it hear first!)

Still on lips, and we’ve been slathering on Ameliorate Intensive Lip Treatment, £15. We’re already big fans of this brand (the only products V has ever found – and trust us, she’s been looking for years! – that deal with the bumpy skin on the backs of her arms and legs) and this didn’t disappoint. It’s a brilliant tube of lip relief for dry, chapped, sore lips, and because it’s not too slippy or shiny, it provides the perfect base for your lipstick or gloss. M’s husband is also a big fan (as are the rest of the family) and she’s now never without a tube.

M came over all romantic around February 14th and treated herself to YSL’s new Volupte Plump-in-Colour Lipstick, £29. She knows that you can’t go wrong with a YSL lippie and this one is a nourishing, high-shine lipstick with a cute black heart in the middle, that’s full of plumping ingredients to give you a perfect pout. M went for Furious Gold (a delicately shimmering, golden colour) but is already eyeing up some of the other shades!

As for V, she’s gone vitamin C mad (although she’s always been partial to some freshly squeezed orange juice!) and is on a search for the holy grail of vitamin C skincare. She may just have found it in SVR Hydracid C50 Smoothing Radiance Mask, £30, a brilliant mousse that you use as a mask – leave on for around 15 minutes, or overnight if it takes your fancy! – to reveal clear, bright, glowing skin (don’t panic if it tingles a little. It’s to be expected and all part of the fun!). Vitamin C is an anti-ageing powerhouse, you see. It boots collagen production, improves signs of sun damage and protects against further environmental damage. Expect smoother, firmer skin and it’ll work on lines and wrinkles too.

A couple of other vitamin C products we’re loving right now are Diego Dalla Palma Vitamin C Radiance Serum, £29 and for a splurge (but oh, so worth it!) Omorovicza Daily Vitamin C Serum, £85. This type of serum should be used in the morning under moisturiser and SPF.

Right, that’s all for Feb. We’re now Marching into March and looking forward to the beauty inspiration it has to offer!

Love Vikki & Mala xx (& Bobbi Brown’s Lampros too!)
