Ooh, we love the Oscars. Who doesn’t?! The glitz! The glamour! The red carpet looks. The anticipation of hearing who’s won. So this year we’re bringing you our very own Beauty Oscars…we’ve put our ‘gladrags’ on, turned up the glamour and are poised to reveal Verymakeupmad’s coveted awards for the best of the best in the beauty industry. We’ve lined up contenders in each category and now the results are in! So here they are, on the red carpet – our 2018 makeup and skincare favourites. And you can also watch us discussing some of these beauty heroes. Just click on this link

Best Longwear Foundation: no contest here, really. It has to be Estee Lauder Doublewear Stay-in-place Makeup, £33.50. The ultimate foundation for perfectly flawless skin, that stays put on the dance floor far longer than either of us do. Plus it’s available in an impressive 54 shades and a variety of finishes.

Best Everyday Foundation: MAC Face & Body Foundation, £26. If you want your skin to look like your skin – just better! – then this is for you. You’ll find it in almost every pro makeup artist’s kit, because it applies beautifully, can be built up for more coverage and gives a glowy, natural finish. Plus it lasts for ages.

Best CC Cream: Erborian Cc Creme SPF25, £17 This cream comes out of the tube white, but magically transforms on application to match your skin tone. Packed full of great skincare ingredients (plus that all-important SPF), it evens skin, hides imperfections and leaves you looking luminous and healthy.

Best glow-giving Primer: Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm, £45. We love everything about this… the smell, the texture, the 3 shades it now comes in, and the fact that at this time of year, when our skin is crying out for some moisture, it packs a – subtly shimmering – punch! Wear alone, or under foundation, or dab over your makeup as a highlighter.

Best Powder Blush: Nars Cosmetics Blush, £23. Nars is the authority on powder blusher with some amazingly flattering shades. The iconic ‘Orgasm’ launched way back in 1999, but remains a bestseller today, as it honestly suits all skin tones. If you’ve never tried it, you really should.

Best Cream Blush: Glossier Cloud Paint, £15. We love these cute, squeezy tubes of ‘light as air’ gel-cream. Cloud Paint melts into the skin, creating the most natural flush of colour. Dab it on and build up the colour as much as you like.

Best Bronzer: BeneFit Hoola, £21.68. This silky, shimmer-free, matt bronzing powder gives a very natural, sun kissed glow and the packaging makes it your ideal travel companion. No wonder it was the top selling bronzer in the UK in 2018.

Best Cream Highlighter: Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Hefty Highlight, £20 You can’t go wrong with this in your makeup bag. A shimmering, silky cream that can be applied straight from the stick or with your fingers, it gives just the right amount of glow. And it’s so versatile – wear on cheekbones, browbones, cupid’s bow… wherever you want to shine!!

Best Perfecting Powder: Hourglass Ambient Light Powder, £42. Once you’ve tried one of these beauties, you’ll never look back. It’s the powder version of a phone filter… it works to blur imperfections, to give your skin a ‘soft focus’ finish and an enviable radiance, and to make you look flawless. What’s not to love?!

Best Concealer: YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch Highlighting Pen, £25. An iconic product ever since it first hit the beauty halls 26 years ago, six of these pens are now sold every minute somewhere in the world. Yes, you read that right! This wonder product conceals dark circles, lines and wrinkles and lightens the eye area to help make you look brighter and younger.

Best Eyeshadow: Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick, £23.50. We’re all about the ease and simplicity of eyeshadow sticks and this version ticks every box for us. Longlasting… tick! Smudge proof… tick! Foolproof to apply… tick! Creamy in texture, so doesn’t drag… tick! Great range of colours and finishes…tick!

Best Eyeshadow Palette: Urban Decay Beached Eyeshadow Palette, £28. This palette screams summer, but quite frankly we happily wear it all year round. The powders are soft and creamy, perfectly pigmented and once applied, last for hours. We love the vibrant turquoises and the soft champagney shades… so many fab colour combinations!

Best Mascara: Eyeko Yoga Waterproof Mascara, £19. When it comes to mascara, we love Eyeko. In fact, it was hard to choose just one winner, as all the mascaras in the range are 5-star!! We went for ‘Yoga’ as we love the unique shape of the brush. Plus if waterproof is your thing, we defy you to find a mascara more waterproof than this!

Best Eyeliner: Eyeko Eye-do Eyeliner, £16. With the ultra fine, stiff nib on this eyeliner, you’re very much in control. Once applied, it promises not to budge. We love to wear it on the upper lid underneath the lashes, rather than over them – it gives a very natural finish and lashes get instant va-va-voom.

Best Brow Pencil: BBB London Ultimate Arch Definer, £22. This is the only brow pencil we reach for. The pencil is soft, perfectly angled and produces a totally natural stroke of colour. And as for the other end? It’s the most beautiful, velvety brush that moves the product through your brows and blends effortlessly.

Best everyday Lipstick: Urban Decay Vice Comfort Matte Lipstick in Backtalk, £16.50. Comfort by name, comfort by nature. This lipstick glides onto lips with its creamy formula and nourishing ingredients. And it lasts for hours. Our shade of choice is the bestselling Backtalk… the ultimate mauvey, pinky ‘nude’.

Best Lipgloss: Jouer Long-Wear Lip Topper, £13.50. Not strictly a lipgloss, but we couldn’t resist crowning this stunning, sparkling lip topper! Non-sticky, beautifully shimmering and with the scent of vanilla ice cream, we absolutely love it. Wear alone or over your favourite lipstick… either way, it will transform your lips in just one swipe.

Best Cleanser: Cerave Hydrating Cleanser, £9. This is a very gentle cleanser but also really hard working… which is why we love it so much! It removes every last trace of makeup without drying out the skin or leaving it feeling tight and uncomfortable. And you can’t argue with the price!

Best Cleansing Balm: Emma Hardie Moringa Cleaning Balm, £47. When our skin is crying out for some tlc and a bit of luxury, we reach for a cleansing balm. The Emma Hardie balm melts into the skin and works hard to lift away any makeup and impurities. Plus it smells incredible and leaves skin looking clear and glowy. It can also double up as a hydrating mask.

Best Day Cream: MGC Derma CBD Moisturizing Day Cream, SPF30, £65. This CBD-based brand is our new skincare obsession. And this cream is the perfect introduction to it. With CBD to repair, rejuvenate and protect, and packed full of antioxidants, plus SPF, our complexions have never looked or felt better and are definitely grateful to us for using this cream!

Best Toner: Pixi Rose Tonic,£10. The lesser-known cousin of Glow Tonic, we love Rose Tonic for its nourishing, hydrating ingredients, its delicate scent and its soothing, calming properties. A great addition to your skincare routine.

Best anti-ageing Serum: Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronizer Recovery Complex II, £53 This wonder serum has been around since the 80s (almost as long as we have!) and continues to be a bestseller today. It repairs and hydrates skin as you sleep and gets to work on lines and wrinkles. Expect to wake to a smooth, radiant complexion.

Best Lip Balm: Clinique Pep Start Pout Restoring Night Mask, £16. We couldn’t be without this brilliant lip balm. Yes, we apply it at night as the name suggests, but we also use throughout the day to keep our lips soft, smooth, plump and pillowy. It’s a game-changer!
